As an Engineer, you’re the master of high-value projects, innovative thinking, and/or product development, but maybe when it comes to selling yourself and your achievements, you don’t necessarily know how to get it right on your CV.
To help you land your next Engineering role, we’ve shared our top CV tips.
No two application should be the same. Research the company to understand their industry and the technologies used and demonstrate your experience in these areas.
Include your knowledge of relevant software systems i.e. Autocad, Solidworks, Inventor, QP, Allen Bradley, Siemens, CNC, Profibus. This will be picked up in an initial CV review scan.
The precision of your CV reflects your precision when it comes to engineering projects. Ensure you have proofread and corrected any mistakes before submitting.
Thoroughly review the job description to help you determine which skills and capabilities the company value the most, then highlight these within your CV.
List all of your earned industry certifications with the accredited institution, awards or competition wins and the dates you were awarded these.
Your CV needs to be clearly laid out and easily digested. Use shorter paragraphs as big bodies of text can be off-putting. You should also use bullet points where necessary.
Include examples of successful projects, an overview of the process, statistics and results. This will show how you could make a real difference to their business.
