Area Sales Manager
Field Based / Home Based - Scotland 
Salary: £38,000-£45,000 + Company Car + desirable commission structure

Are you a driven and ambitious salesperson looking for an opportunity to take full ownership of your own territory across the Scotland?

Do you have a technical mindset, previous experience selling technical products, or a technical qualification that will help you quickly understand customer requirements and site applications? You’ll need the ability to read and interpret site drawings and confidently advise customers on where and how products can be used within their sites.

This is a field-based role offering genuine autonomy, ownership and the opportunity to make a real commercial impact across your region.

You will take full ownership of a defined territory covering areas across the Scotland, including; Moray, Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen City, Perth and Kinross, Angus, Dundee City, Fife, with strong internal support from commercial, engineering and operations teams.

• On target earnings of up to £50,000 through commission, which is highly achievable

Responsibilities of a Area Sales Manager:

• Drive new business sales and grow volume, revenue and margin across your territory
• Manage and re-contract existing accounts at renewal
• Proactively prospect for new opportunities and develop a strong sales pipeline
• Attend customer meetings, site visits and relevant industry events
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and key decision-makers
• Monitor competitor activity and changes within the market
• Deliver against agreed KPIs, including volume, margin, profit and lead conversion
• Engage with engineers, facilities managers, operational leaders and senior decision-makers to understand their requirements
• Work closely with customers to understand their operational and technical requirements and determine what is technically viable for their site
• Work alongside internal engineering and operational teams to provide the right solution for each customer

Requirements of a Area Sales Manager:

• Must have experience in a field-based sales role, with a proven ability to generate new business from scratch
• A strong technical mindset with the ability to understand and communicate technical information
• Previous experience selling technical products or solutions would be highly advantageous
• A technical qualification or experience within a technical, engineering or industrial environment would be beneficial
• Background in fuels, energy systems, waste, plumbing, construction, asphalt or industrial sectors would be advantageous
• Confident discussing system requirements, technical specifications and site applications
• Able to read and understand site drawings or technical plans
• Highly organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing your own territory
• Competitive, driven and motivated by achieving and exceeding targets
• A confident communicator with strong relationship-building and negotiation skills
• Comfortable working autonomously in a field-based environment and taking full ownership of your results
