Director of Sales

Elevation Recruitment are the retained partner with Finlays in the search for a Director of Sales.

Finlays is a leading independent B2B manufacturer and supplier of tea, coffee and botanical solutions to beverage brand owners worldwide.

The Director of Sales will be part of the SLT and will plan, develop and implement the commercial strategy aligning activities with the company strategy, delivering long term sustainable sales, competitive advantage, growth and profitability, and to contribute to the executive management team.

Based in the North of the UK (2 days minimum at Head Office) with regular travel, leading the UK sales division, the role includes:

• To lead and support the delivery of sales excellence. Growing total business across all sales channels, customers and products in line with budget expectations
• Deliver sales plans that are aligned to Finlays, Customer and Consumer needs
• Lead, motivate and develop direct reports of Business Managers and National Accounts. Building a ‘Can Do’ culture and whilst driving proactive and winning behaviours
• Understand key category and market drivers across all channels but with a major focus on the UK multiples
• Collaborate effectively with the rest of the Executive Team to deliver the 3-year Strategic Plan, bringing external focus and ensuring strong customer focus always
• Lead the thinking and development of new channels which will enhance delivery of the total business KPIs e.g. Food Service, Discounters,
• Lead customer pricing and investment strategy and ensure that these deliver against the business contribution targets

Skills and Experience for the Director of Sales:

• Fast moving consumable goods market (FMCG) in the UK
• Financial and commercial expertise
• Experience of the Private Label industry in the UK
• Line management at departmental head / senior level
• Understanding of the supply chain – Bush to cup
• High level of numeracy and literacy
• Negotiation and presentation skills. Strategic leadership

Working Requirements

• Role to be based min 2 days in West Yorkshire office
