ROLE OVERVIEW:

This role is responsible and accountable for the development and execution of Health, Safety & Environmental (QHSE) strategies, policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with Statutory requirements, local Legislation & Company standards. This role will be an active contributor to the development and execution of the company’s medium to long term strategic goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accountable for the development and management of departments annual budgets (AOP’s) and long term plans (LRP’s) in support of the Company’s business requirements in terms of accreditations, financial and customer metrics and KPI’s.
• Accountable for the development, deployment and management of setting the frameworks for Standards, Policies and Procedures related to Health, Safety & Environment and ensure that these are maintained in accordance with Company Standards, local Legislative and Statutory requirements
• Accountable for monitoring compliance to the IMS and all associated legislative and statutory requirements and for the management of internal and external audits as required.
• Responsible for the coordination of training, support and development of line managers with respect to implementing and maintaining all policies, processes and procedures relating to HSE; facilitate investigations, analysis and reporting as required.
• Work with department and line managers to develop and implement projects and activities to improve the understanding and application of workplace Health, Safety and Environmental practices.
• Responsible for the leadership, motivation and development of the HSE team; and for managing performance through the setting of challenging objectives and targets.
• Facilitate the development and implementation of HSE processes and practices with the aim of maximising competitive advantage through Operational excellence.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
• Positive and pragmatic leadership style with demonstrable people management experience including influencing and coaching of non-direct reports
• Risk management skills and experience
• Knowledge and practical application of ISO14001 and ISO45001.
