5 Years of Success: Interview with Rob Simpson, Senior Consultant at Elevation

Rob Simpson joined Elevation when we were just a team of 15 and has really excelled within his career and made an impact to the growth of the business. Over the past 5 years, he has worked with big name brands and with a wide-range of candidates.

Rob believes in building and maintaining relationships to drive his ongoing success with clients. His passion and persistence has built him an excellent reputation within recruitment.

Rob recently reached his 5-year work anniversary at Elevation, so we put some questions to him to find out more about his success.

So, Rob let’s start off with what you do at Elevation?

I specialise in permanent Accountancy and Finance roles that have a salary range between £30k - £60k across West and North Yorkshire.

Can you describe what is a typical day like for you?

No two days are the same. I like to split my day.  I spend around half a day speaking and meeting with clients to have a catch up, discuss their priorities and keeping building a great relationship.  Then I speak to candidates, having a good relationship with them means I can match them with roles I think are more suited for their personality. This usually keeps the plates spinning. Generally, I look at my watch and I can’t believe where my day has gone.

How did you start your career in Recruitment?

After working in the Finance industry, I approached a blue-chip agency, Elevation, to help me find a new role for when I relocated to the area. I landed a role working for them. I never looked back since.

What are your favourite parts of the job role?

Obviously making a successful placement is why I do this job.  When a candidate gets an offer, there’s no better feeling. I have met many different candidates over the past 5 years and I never get tired of saying ‘you have an offer’. The build up to making placements makes the day go so fast. It’s a constant nonstop wheel of varied tasks. 

What has made you stay at Elevation over the past 5 years?

Great business to work for, it’s been rewarding to be part of a fast-growing organisation. Building the relationships in the area and sector I work in. Everyday my knowledge and the people in it increases which makes my job easier and more enjoyable.  It has also been an excellent opportunity to watch this business grow over the past 5 years. When I started there were only a handful of consultants, now we have two offices and are dominating the recruitment industry in Yorkshire.

I think everyone at Elevation will agree that the team and the people here are unlike any other. They are friendly and welcoming, we constantly helping each other thrive.

I have always been impressed with the high amount of rewards and employee engagement at Elevation.

The in-laws call me Frank Spencer but let’s leave that one there before I lose my relatively professional reputation.
