Exciting New Hire as Elevation Continues to Grow our Accountancy and Finance Division

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to announce the appointment of Olivia Hunt, Consultant, who has joined the Accountancy and Finance division to specialise in the recruitment of Transactional and Part Qualified professionals within South Yorkshire.

Prior to joining Elevation, Olivia’s experience was focused on recruiting high volume contracts and projects for various businesses across the UK, working with industries such as Engineering, Law, Manufacturing and Public Sector.

Olivia’s approach to recruitment is honest and open and she is known for her tailored and insightful advice to both candidates and clients in her specialist area. She is dedicated to service delivery and is always willing to go above and beyond which has contributed to her successful career within recruitment.

Olivia will work closely with the wider Transactional and Part Qualified to support the growing recruitment demands of those people that are central to the smooth running and success of the Finance function.

Can you give us a whistle stop tour of your career?

Whilst in my final year at university, studying a Fashion Marketing degree, a recruiter was invited into one of our lectures to discuss career pathways after graduating. During the presentation, he talked about the role of a recruiter, the recruitment lifecycle, and the importance of good marketing skills in this type of role. It was following his presentation, that I knew I wanted to pursue a career in recruitment as I felt passionate about combining the skills, I had learnt from my course along with my keen interest in people/relationships.

After graduating in 2019, I then joined an educational recruitment agency. During my two years there, I progressed from a HR Administrator to a Trainee Recruitment Consultant.

Following that, I then joined a global agency, working in one of their regional branches, recruiting for high volume contract and project roles, which covered multi-disciplined sectors such as, sales, engineering and customer services.

What attracted you to the role at Elevation?

With a couple of years of experience in the recruitment under my belt where I had recruited for various roles in various sectors, I started to feel like I wanted to really specialise in a dedicated area and become a true expert in my field. So, when I spoke to Steph Sierny (Divisional Manager) and she mentioned the position within her Transactional & Part-Qualified Finance team, I really liked the idea that I could narrow my focus but upskill myself at the same time and learn from an experienced team in a specialist area.

Even with minimal experience of this sector, I know the candidates are very career focused and driven and look for roles with development opportunities aligned to their goals. It excites me to work with knowledgeable and educated professionals who I can help with their careers.  

What attracted you to Elevation as a recruitment agency?

Coincidentally, Sarah Mounsey (Head of Talent at that time) reached out to me the week after the career pathway presentation at university. She invited me into Elevation’s office to discuss a potential graduate programme that they were looking to run.

I instantly loved the culture, the values and everything the business stood for - it had such a warm and inviting feeling when I came in. Everyone just seemed so happy to be there and I have never forgot that! But I remember Sarah saying to me that she felt it would be best to go and get a few years’ experience and then come back to us, so I was excited when the opportunity at Elevation came up and Steph contacted me years later.

Unlike anywhere I had worked before, I was really bought in to the fact Steph is purely dedicated to the training, coaching and mentoring of her team which, as a naturally ambitious person who wants to be successful, was something that really excited me. I love how employee-focused and supportive Elevation seemed to be and actually are!

In three words how would you describe our company on first perception?

Welcoming, inspiring and forward-thinking.

What do you enjoy most about working in recruitment as a whole?

I love speaking to people and I have a genuine interest in others, personally, I think that is key for a successful career in recruitment. I like getting to know my candidates and understanding the nitty gritty of their job searches, skills, experience etc.

What I enjoy most about the recruitment of accountancy and finance professionals, is working with candidates that are so dedicated and who know exactly what they want from a role and where they aim to be in their careers over the next 5, 10 years and upwards. I personally find it extremely interesting to hear about their qualifications, and it is rewarding when I place them in a role that I know they have worked very hard to get.

What are you hoping to achieve in your role at Elevation?

Prior to starting at Elevation, I spoke a lot with Steph about job vs career and that is my intention – to build a successful, long-term career with Elevation in a role that I can really grow with. I’m looking forward to all the development and progression opportunities that will become available as I progress, but in the short-term, I’m excited to be working with such a great team and getting stuck in so I can build a strong candidate and client base.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I have a 12-week-old puppy and he is the most adorable little thing, so at the moment he is taking up all of my time, but I absolutely love being a dog mum - just not so much when I’m mopping up his mess around the house all day and night!
