Elevation Recruitment Group hosted the latest instalment of our highly successful Pathway to Finance Director series in Sheffield on 16th April at The Victoria (Kelham Island), bringing together ambitious finance professionals aspiring to step into Finance Director roles.
The event was hosted by our Business Director, Ben Graney, one of the region’s most experienced senior finance recruiters. Ben shared his insight into hiring finance leaders, helping to shape a discussion centred on genuine career progression and what it really takes to reach FD level.
We welcomed senior finance professionals from across the region, all seeking clear, practical guidance on how to make the transition into a Finance Director role and a deeper understanding of what the position truly entails.

Attendees heard what worked in real situations. The conversation stayed practical and relevant, with questions from the audience shaping the discussion throughout.
Held at The Victoria, the setting supported the format of the evening. Drinks, networking and freshly made pizzas created a relaxed environment where conversations felt natural.
This made it easier for attendees to speak openly with both peers and experienced Finance Directors, building connections that go beyond a typical event setting.
The Pathway to FD event in Sheffield forms part of our wider Pathway series, designed to support professionals at key stages of their careers. Events like this matter because they focus on real experience. Attendees gain direct access to senior leaders, hear honest insight, and have the chance to ask the questions that matter.
We’ve found there to be a clear demand for more events that offer practical guidance and meaningful connections within the finance community, and we will continue to host such events moving forward.
