Sky Bet announces investment in new graduate scheme

Written by Greg Parkinson

Yorkshire-based tech firm Sky Bet has announced that it is investing £500k in a new graduate scheme that will recruit for roles across its commercial, finance and software divisions.

Creating 20 jobs, according to media reports, the additional funds further bolster the £3m already spent by the company on early career initiatives over the past year.

Rob Painter, Sky Betting & Gaming's brand and HR director, said: "Following the success of last year's scheme I'm thrilled to announce the 2017 scheme is now open to applicants. We've really benefited from growing our business in Yorkshire and I'm confident the region has everything talented graduates want from well paid, challenging jobs like ours, including a great standard of living."

The company went on to confirm that 70% of its new recruits to date had come from Yorkshire –based universities.

In August last year Sky Bet welcomed 27 technology graduates into its first intake for an internal trainee programme at its Software Academy at Wellington Place in Leeds.

A spokesperson for the company said that the business was ‘committed to Yorkshire’ and had been able to recruit at record rates locally. They went on to say that ‘by offering such high quality placements, we’ve not only been able to hold on to home grown graduates from our local universities, but also to attract those from further afield.’
