Upcoming Engineering Events in Yorkshire

Elevation Engineering & Manufacturing are proud sponsors of four fantastic engineering and manufacturing events in Yorkshire for another year running.

This year we are sponsoring – Get Up to Speed with STEM Business Breakfast, IMechE Yorkshire Regional Dinner, Speak Out for Engineering Yorkshire and Apprentice of the Year award at the Made in Sheffield Awards.

Engineering and Manufacturing plays a crucial role in the growth of Yorkshire’s economy and we have seen how much these events impact all areas of skills gaps and development; job opportunities and employment for the people who live in our region.

With an ever-growing clientele, it is great to continue strong relationships with businesses specifically in this sector including Tecomet, Guardian Glass and Orchid Orthepedic Solutions. These events really showcase the overall success of the science technology, engineering and manufacturing sector in Yorkshire.

This year the focus will be on the industrial revolution, with speakers from some of the companies at the forefront of industry 4.0.

The event starts at 7.45 am with registration and breakfast where you’ll have an opportunity to network with business owners, directors and senior managers within the region.

There is a panel discussion and keynote speakers followed by a preview of the exhibition and more networking opportunities.

We continue to be sponsors for the third year running of the Business Breakfast. It is fantastic to be a part of an event that highlights the region’s growing and successful STEM sector which we are very proud of.

And this year is even more special as we both share our milestone that is our 10th anniversary and we are sure it’s going to be the best one yet.

Speak Out for Engineering

Across Yorkshire in February

The Speak Out for Engineering award is a competition to celebrate young pioneers and innovators in the industry. The competition is held every year by IMechE and gives engineers an excellent opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills to a panel of judges for the chance to win the award and a cash prize.

Participants will compete in area Heats, which are judged by a panel of professionals and academics chosen by the local committee. The winner and runner-up from each Heat go on to compete in the Yorkshire Regional Final, and the winner and runner-up of the Final are then announced at the Yorkshire Regional Dinner by Elevation’s Senior Director, John Bohan.

We have been proud sponsors of this event for 8 years and it is brilliant to see how many people have been able to use their experience in the competition to gain job opportunities within engineering.

Rasan Chandra, winner of the 2016 Speak Out for Engineering said: “I couldn’t recommend Speak Out for Engineering enough as there are countless benefits to it. As young, budding engineers, you get to test your public speaking skills, practice for your viva and network to potentially land a graduate job.”

The Yorkshire heat for this year’s competition has already taken place but entries will re-open next year.
